    Aunt Lori's Cheese Ball

    Source of Recipe

From "Love Welcome Serve" by Amy Nelson Hannon

    Recipe Introduction

"My husband is the middle of three boys. His big brother and his little brother both married girls who can cook. So when I say that Hannon holidays are done right, I mean they're done right. My sister-in-law Lori has made this cheese ball for every gathering and holiday since she's been in the family. The adults love it, and the kids do, too. Around my house before we gather with the Hannons, my kids start asking, 'Is Lori bringing her cheese ball?' Yes, my dear children. Yes, she is. Quite frankly, I think Aunt Lori suspects that if she didn't show up with this cheese ball in hand, we'd turn her away at the door. Blood is *not* thicker than cheese ball. Not in our family, anyway."

    List of Ingredients

â—¦ 3 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, at room temperature
    â—¦ 1 tablespoon Accent seasoning
    â—¦ 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    â—¦ 6 green onions, chopped
    â—¦ 1 (3-ounce) jar real bacon bits
    â—¦ 1 ½ cups pecan chips
    â—¦ Crackers, for serving

    Recipe

In a medium bowl, combine the very soft cream cheese, Accent, Worcestershire, chopped green onions, and real bacon bits. Using a rubber spatula, spread, mash, and stir to combine well. Put the pecan chips in a shallow bowl.

Lay out two pieces of plastic wrap on the counter so it's at the ready when your hands are a mess! Divide the cream cheese mixture in half and form two balls. Roll each ball in the pecan chips, gently pressing them into the cream cheese. Lay each cheese ball in the middle of a piece of plastic wrap. Wash your hands, then wrap up the cheese balls and refrigerate for an hour or more. Allow to sit at room temperature for at least 15 minutes before serving with good crackers.

    Makes 2 cheese balls
