    Savory Party Bread

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 unsliced round loaf sourdough bread (1 pound)
    • 1 pound Monterey Jack cheese
    • ½ cup butter, melted
    • ½ cup chopped green onions
    • 2 to 3 teaspoons poppy seeds


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 350° F.

    2. Cut the bread widthwise into 1-inch slices to within ½ inch of bottom of loaf. Repeat cuts in opposite direction. Cut cheese into ¼-inch slices; cut slices into small pieces. Place pieces of cheese in cuts.

    3. In a small bowl, mix butter, green onions, and poppy seeds; drizzle over the bread. Wrap in foil; place on a baking sheet. Bake 15 minutes. Unwrap; bake 10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.

      Makes 8 servings



    Final Comments


    The bread can be sliced and filled a day ahead. Right before company comes, melt the butter and add the green onions and poppy seeds.
