    Tropical Tanning Body Oil

    Source of Recipe

From "Pure Skin Care" by Stephanie Tourles

    Recipe Introduction

"This oil is designed for the die-hard sun worshipper who tans easily and rarely burns. Its SPF is low but its aroma is oh-so-sweet! It may make you want to bake in the sun all day — but don't! Even those who tan easily experience skin damage from excessive sun exposure. This oil is highly emollient and beneficial for any part of the body in need of softening."

    List of Ingredients

â—¦ ½ cup unrefined coconut oil
    â—¦ ½ cup jojoba oil
    â—¦ 5 capsules 200 IU vitamin E oil
    â—¦ 1 tablespoon cocoa butter
â—¦ A few drops of coconut fragrance or flavoring oil (optional)

    Recipe

In a small saucepan over low heat or in a double boiler, warm the coconut oil, jojoba oil, and cocoa butter until the solids have just melted. Remove from the heat, add the vitamin E oil (pierce the capsule skin and squeeze the contents into the mix), and stir the mixture with a spoon for about a minute to thoroughly blend. Add the fragrance or flavoring oil (if desired) and stir again.

Pour the blend into an 8-ounce storage container — a plastic squeeze bottle is great — and cap, label, and date. Allow the mixture to thicken for 12 hours before use.

    • To Store:
Store in a dark, cool cabinet. No refrigeration is required, but for maximum freshness and potency, please use within 2 years.

    • To Apply:
Shake well before use. Apply this oil immediately after a bath or shower to seal in moisture and prevent evaporation before heading into the sun. A little goes a long way, so begin with 1 teaspoon. Also apply it during and after sun exposure.
