    Classic Steak Sauce

    Recipe Introduction

    "Steak sauces are complex blends of spices in a sweet-sour base. This homemade version is delicious on grilled steaks and burgers."

    List of Ingredients

    â—¦ ¼ cup oil
    â—¦ 3 tablespoons finely chopped onion
    â—¦ ½ teaspoon finely minced garlic
    â—¦ ¼ cup cider vinegar
    â—¦ ½ teaspoon salt
    â—¦ ½ teaspoon dry mustard
    â—¦ ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
    â—¦ ¼ teaspoon ground mace
    â—¦ ¼ teaspoon ground cloves

    Recipe

    Heat the oil in a small saucepan over medium heat.

    Add the onion and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until soft. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute more. Add the vinegar, salt, mustard, nutmeg, mace, and cloves. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.

    Cool to room temperature and serve with steak.


    Makes about ¾ cup
