    This is said to be "Kate's (i.e., Katharine Hepburn) famous recipe!

    List of Ingredients




    2 squares unsweetened chocolate
    8 tbsp. (1 stick) butter
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 cup chopped nuts, (optional)
    1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    1/4 tsp. salt

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
    Grease well, an 8" x 8" baking pan.
    In heavy saucepan, over very low heat, melt chocolate and butter.
    Remove pan from heat and stir in sugar.
    Beat in eggs and vanilla.
    Quickly stir in nuts (if using), flour and salt.

    Spread batter in greased pan.
    Bake 40 - 45 mins.
    Remove pan to a rack to cool.
