    Baked Asparagus Gruyere


    1-pound asparagus tips
    1 teaspoon unsalted butter
    3 tablespoons water
    1/2 cup Gruyere cheese -- grated
    3 tablespoons pine nuts -- toasted
    1-tablespoon olive oil
    1/4-teaspoon pepper -- to taste

    Recipe




    Melt butter in an ovenproof skillet, over a high flame.

    Arrange asparagus in pan.

    Add 3 tablespoons water, cover, and steam for 2 minutes.

    Sprinkle stems (not tips) with cheese and nuts.

    Drizzle with oil.

    Season with pepper.

    Bake, uncovered, @ 350 degrees for 5 minutes, until cheese melts.

    Remove from oven.

    Serve hot.

    Yields: 4 servings
