    1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramel candies (no cream candies)
    3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) butter (melted)
    1 box German chocolate cake mix (Duncan Hines brand works best)
    2/3 c. evaporated milk (divided)
    1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
    6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

    1. Combine caramels and 1/3 c. evaporated milk in small saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly until thick and creamy. Set aside.

    2. Mix remaining 1/3 c. evaporated milk with cake mix, nuts and butter by hand until thoroughly mixed.

    3. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch pan.

    4. Press 1/2 of the mixture from step 2 into the pan.

    5. Bake at 350°F for 6 minutes.

    6. Remove pan and sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

    7. Spread caramel mixture over top.

    8. Spoon the rest of the cake mixture on top of the caramel. Try to distribute evenly. Some gaps are okay.

    9. Bake for 15 minutes at 350°F.

    10. Allow to cool and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Cut and enjoy
