    Peanut Butter Cookies

    Source of Recipe

From: Gold Medal flour bag ca. 1960's 10-lb. sack plain No. 90 (info from recipe)

    Recipe Introduction

We have baked these since the 1960's--a cookie jar favorite at our house!

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar (packed in cup)
    1 cup peanut butter
    1/2 cup butter, softened
    1/2 cup shortening
    2 eggs
    2 1/2 cups sifted flour
    1 tsp double-action baking powder
    1 1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt

    Recipe

Mix together thoroughly the sugars, peanut butter, butter, shortening, and eggs.

Sift dry ingredients together and stir in.

Chill dough 1-2 hours. Roll into balls the size of large walnuts. Place 3 inches apart on lightly greased cookie tray. Flatten criss-cross with fork dipped in granulated sugar.

Bake 10-12 minutes in 375 degree oven--until set but not hard.

    Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
