    Go to Buttermilk Biscuits

    Source of Recipe

    Flour sack

    List of Ingredients

    2 c self rising flour
1/2 c cold shortening or butter (I prefer butter. If using butter, I shred the stick of cold butter on a cheese grater)
3/4 c buttermilk (I put 1 tbsp vinegar in measuring cup and add milk to 3/4 c line and let it sit while mixing flour and butter).

    Recipe

Preheat oven to 495*. Grease iron skillet or baking pan with shortening.
Toss cold shredded butter with flour. Stir in buttermilk with fork just until combined. Put a little flour on clean counter. Dump batter onto counter and combine and pat into 1/2 “ thick. Dont over work dough. You can cut biscuits with round cuttet, but easier and I prefer to just cut the dough with a sharp knife into squares: cutting slices one way and then the other way. Put biscuits into prepared pan. Bake about 15-20 min until lightly browned.
I brush tops with butter when they are done.
