    Amish Custard Pie

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 9" pie shell
    • 4 eggs
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1/4 tsp. salt
    • 1 tsp.vanilla extract
    • 2 1/2 cups milk
    • 1/3 tsp. ground nutmeg


    Instructions


    1. Line the pie pan with foil and bake @ 450 for 8 minutes.Remove foil and bake 5 minutes longer.

    2. Remove from oven and set aside.

    3. Seperate one egg; setting aside the white.

    4. In a mixing bowl beat the egg yolk and remaining eggs together.

    5. Blend in sugar, salt and vanilla; stir in milk.

    6. Beat the remaining egg white until stiff peaks appear;fold into pie mixture.

    7. Pour into crust.

    8. Cover edges of pie crust.

    9. Bake @ 350 for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake 15 minutes longer till pie is set.

    10. Remove from oven and cool. Sprinkle with nutmeg

    11. Refrigerate.
