    Kevi's Award Winning Chili

    Source of Recipe

From the kitchen of Kevin Taylor, the BBQ GURU

    Recipe Introduction

This is a chili recipe that Mom made for years. She always served it with onion bread (see below). I like my things hot so have adapted it somewhat. This has won several First Place awards in chili cook-offs. For my friends from Texas….you can leave the beans out!!

    List of Ingredients

    -1 pound ground beef
    -1 medium onion, chopped
-2 cans tomato soup (Campbell’s ONLY!!)
    -1 can water
    -1 small can tomatoes, crushed
    -1 tablespoon cumin powder
    -2 teaspoons crushed red pepper
    -5 tablespoons chili powder
    -1 can kidney beans
    -1 tablespoon pepper
    -1 teaspoon salt
    -2 teaspoons cayenne pepper

    Recipe

-You MUST use Campbell's tomato soup for this recipe!!
-The red pepper I use is the same as they use at the pizza joints.

-Brown beef, onion, cumin and red pepper.

-Add remaining ingredients and simmer for an hour.

-Increase/decrease cayenne and chili powder to taste.

-This recipe is pretty hot as it is......you may want to eliminate the red peppers and go light on the cayenne...you can always add it later.

    Onion Bread
    1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
    1/2 package onion soup mix

Mix together and spread on crusty bread. Broil until golden brown.
