Caramel Crumb Apple Pie

List of Ingredients
- 6 cups peeled, sliced baking apples
- 1 Tbls. lemon juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 Tbls. flour
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 unbaked 9" pie crust
- 28 caramels
- 1 can evaporated milk
- TOPPING:
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 Tbls. margarine
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Instructions
- Combine topping ingredients and spread into an ungreased 8x8 baking pan.
- Bake @ 400 for 6-8 minutes; cool and crumble and set aside
- Sprinkle apples with the lemon juice.
- Combine sugar, flour and cinnamon; toss with the apples.
- Place the apples in the bottom of th epie crust.
- Cut a circle of foil to cover the apples. Place over apples and bake @ 425 for 10 minutes.
- Reduce heat to 376 and bake 35 more minutes.
- Meanwhile in a sauce pan melt the caramels with the milk; stir frequently.
- Remove foil from pie and pour caramel mix over apples.
- Sprinkle topping over caramels.
- Bake for 5 more minutes.
- Best if served warm
