    • 1/4 cup flour
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 1-2 lbs stew meat cut into chunks
    • 1 Tbls.oil
    • 1 (8oz) can tomato sauce
    • 2 cups water
    • 1 large onion sliced
    • 1 tsp. marjoram
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 1 pkg (10oz) frozen caoot slices
    • 1 pkg (10oz) frozen peas
    • DUMPLINGS:
    • 1 cup flour
    • 1 tsp. baking powder
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1 egg beaten
    • 1 Tbls. oil


    Instructions


    1. In a medium bowl, combine the flour and salt and pepper. ( set aside 2 Tbls.)
    2. Add meat to bowl and toss to coat.
    3. In a 6 qt. dutch oven brown the meat in oil.
    4. Stir in tomato sauce, water and reserved flour mixture.
    5. Add onion, marjoram and bay leaf. Bring to a boil.
    6. Reduce heat and cover and simmer for 2 hours.
    7. Add carrots and peas and cook for 30 minutes more until vegetables are tender.
    8. Remove and dispose of bay leaf.
    9. For dumplings, combine the flour and baking powder.
    10. Stir in milk, egg and oil.
    11. Drop by Tablespoonfuls onto stew.
    12. Cover and cook for 15 more minutes.
    13. Serve immediately.
