List of Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 2 1/4 cups milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 tsp. active dry yeast
- 2 tsp. warm water or milk
- 2 tsp. finely grated lemon peel
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cip currants
- 1/4 cup combined lemon and orange peel
- 5 tart apples, peeled, cored and diced
- cooking oil
- Powdered Sugar
Instructions
- Sift the flour and add the milk and salt.
- Disslove the yeast in about 2 tsp. warm water or milk and let stand for about 5 minutes.
- Add the yeast to the flour mixture and place the dough in a warm place to rise for about 1 1/2 hours.
- After it has risen, punch the dough down and add the grated lemon peel and the raisins, currants & apples.
- Heat oil to about 375 degrees. Using 2 Tablespoons which have been dipped into the hot oil, pull a ball of dough from the batter and dip into the oil. Fry until golden.
- Alllow the oliebollen to rest on some paper towel for a few minutes, the place on a serving tray and dust liberally with powderd sugar.
