    List of Ingredients


    • 4 cups flour
    • 2 1/4 cups milk
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 3 tsp. active dry yeast
    • 2 tsp. warm water or milk
    • 2 tsp. finely grated lemon peel
    • 1/2 cup raisins
    • 1/2 cip currants
    • 1/4 cup combined lemon and orange peel
    • 5 tart apples, peeled, cored and diced
    • cooking oil
    • Powdered Sugar


    Instructions


    1. Sift the flour and add the milk and salt.
    2. Disslove the yeast in about 2 tsp. warm water or milk and let stand for about 5 minutes.
    3. Add the yeast to the flour mixture and place the dough in a warm place to rise for about 1 1/2 hours.
    4. After it has risen, punch the dough down and add the grated lemon peel and the raisins, currants & apples.
    5. Heat oil to about 375 degrees. Using 2 Tablespoons which have been dipped into the hot oil, pull a ball of dough from the batter and dip into the oil. Fry until golden.
    6. Alllow the oliebollen to rest on some paper towel for a few minutes, the place on a serving tray and dust liberally with powderd sugar.
