    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 C. shortening
    • 1 1/2 C. superfine sugar
    • 2 jumbo eggs
    • 3 C. unbleached all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 tsp. sea salt
    • 1 1/2 baking soda
    • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    • 3/4 tsp. cloves
    • 3/4 tsp. nutmeg
    • 1 1/2 C. buttermilk
    • COOKED RAISIN ICING
    • 3/4 C. superfine sugar
    • 2 T. unsalted butter
    • 3/4 C. raisins
    • 1 T. cornstarch
    • 1 C. water


    Instructions


    1. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Pour into greased 9x13 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes. Top with Cooked Raisin Icing.
    2. COOKED RAISIN ICING- In a pan combine cornstarch and sugar. Add water and raisins. Bring to a boil and stir constantly. When thick remove from heat and stir in butter. Pour over cake and let cool.
