    Recipe Introduction


    This recipe is a combo of several meatloaf recipes I've tried over the years. It's a family favorite and I let the kids help by crushing the crackers in a plastic bag with a rolling pin!
    We like the traditional sides with meatloaf, maybe with a twist - smashed potatoes instead of mashed and collard greens instead of salad. Enjoy!

    List of Ingredients




    1 and 1/2 lbs. ground round
    1 egg, beaten
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 small bell pepper, chopped
    1/2 cup Heinz 57 or A-1 Sweet and Tangy
    1 cup cracker crumbs
    salt and pepper to taste

    Recipe



    1.) Preheat oven to 375 degrees (F).

    2.) In a small bowl, combine beaten egg with Heinz (or A-1) sauce.

    3.) In large bowl, combine meat, onion, pepper, and crackers. Coat with egg and sauce mixture.

    4.) Mix with hands just until ingredients are evenly distributed. (Overmixing will cause loaf to be tight and heavy).

    5.) Press mixture into loaf pan and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes.

    6.) While baking, mix together following ingredients for glazing.

    1/2 cup ketchup
    1/4 cup spicy brown mustard
    1 tbsp brown sugar

    7.) After 30 minutes, remove loaf from oven and spread glaze on top. Continue baking for 30 more minutes.
