    Beef Stroganoff

A stew by any other name is........stroganoff. Found this in an old Good Housekeeping cookbook the first year we were married and have been making it ever since.

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 round steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
    • 2 large onions, chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 pound mushrooms, sliced (or if very small, left whole)
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1 can broth
    • 1 carton sour cream
    • parsley for garnish

    Instructions

    1. Shake steak pieces in a bag with flour, salt, and pepper. Brown meat on all sides in a small amount of oil. Remove meat from pan. To the drippings, add onions, mushrooms, and garlic. Saute until tender. Add water and broth. Cook 45-60 minutes. Stir in sour cream and parsley. Heat, but do not allow to boil. Serve over broad noodles or rice.

    Final Comments

Be sure there's enough left over to serve it over toast for breakfast.
