    Leslie combined these recipes and the result was delicious.

    List of Ingredients




    1 cup water
    1 cup ruby Port
    1/2 cup sugar
    2 cinnamon sticks
    2-4 tablespoons finely chopped crystallized ginger
    1 teaspoon fresh lemon zest
    3 whole cloves
    10 black peppercorns, cracked
    1 tablespoon unsalted butter
    2 firm pears, peeled, cored, and cut into 8 wedges each
    1 package dried apricots (about 1 pound)
    1 cup dried tart cherries
    4 dried figs, cut up
    1 package dried peaches
    1 package prunes

    Recipe



    Combine water, port, sugar, cinnamon sticks, ginger, lemon zest, cloves, and peppercorns. Bring to a boil and simmer about five minutes. Add unsalted butter and fruit. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until pears are tender, 20-25 minutes. Strain liquid into another saucepan and reduce to a half cup or so. Return to fruit. Cover and chill. Bring to room temperature or warm before serving.
