    Pear and Stilton Salad

    This is almost too easy to be so good.


    List of Ingredients


    • Romaine lettuce leaves
    • Fresh pears, thinly sliced
    • Stilton cheese, crumbled


    Instructions


    1. Arrange lettuce leaves on individual salad plates. Neatly fan thin pear slices on top. Crumble Stilton over pear slices.


    Final Comments


    I have to remind Dick that we no longer need both mayonnaise and Stilton. He hates to give up his time-honored traditions of extra fat. [He's the one who butters the bread for his peanut butter sandwiches.]

    Pears canned in heavy syrup are acceptable substitutes for fresh pears. Those canned in juice are too insipid for this recipe. Gorgonzola or Maytag blue are good substitutes for the Stilton.

    Toasted walnuts are excellent on top.
