    Canandian Freezer Frosting

    Recipe Introduction


    It is handy to have this sweet and creamy frosting in the freezer to decorate a cakes. Just thaw in the fridge and spread. Can be tinted with food coloring for special occasions.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1/3 cup shortening
    • 4 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar, divided
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 3/4 to 1 cup whipping cream


    Instructions


    1. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening with 1 cup of sugar, vanilla and salt.
    2. add the remaining sugar alternately with cream.
    3. Beat until the frosting reaches ther desired consistency.
    4. Cover and freeze for up to 2 months.
    5. Thaw in refrigerator before using.
    6. Yield: About 3 cups(enough to frost 24 cupcakes or a two layer, tube, 13 X 9 inch cake).
