Recipe Introduction
It is handy to have this sweet and creamy frosting in the freezer to decorate a cakes. Just thaw in the fridge and spread. Can be tinted with food coloring for special occasions.
List of Ingredients
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 4 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar, divided
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 to 1 cup whipping cream
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, cream shortening with 1 cup of sugar, vanilla and salt.
- add the remaining sugar alternately with cream.
- Beat until the frosting reaches ther desired consistency.
- Cover and freeze for up to 2 months.
- Thaw in refrigerator before using.
- Yield: About 3 cups(enough to frost 24 cupcakes or a two layer, tube, 13 X 9 inch cake).
Final Comments
Makes a yummy addition to any cake.
