    Source of Recipe

    Aunt Betty

    Recipe Introduction

I have had these, and they are really good! Try them for the holidays...Everyone will love you for it :)

    List of Ingredients

1 c. soft shorteniing, part marjarine
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
    2 eggs
    1 T. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/4 c. sifted flour, must be sifted
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    chocolate thin mints
walnuts or pecan halves, to decorate top of each cookie

    Recipe

Mix thoroughly shortening, sugars, eggs. Stir in water and vanilla.

Sift together and stir in flour, soda, and salt. Add the first ingredients with the dry ingredients. Mix well.

Shape cookies by enclosing each mint in about 3 T. of dough.

Place about 2" apart on a greased baking sheet. If using a teflon coated cookie sheet there is no need to grease pan.

Before baking, each cookie can be topped with a walnut or pecan if desired.

Bake in 400 degree oven about 8-10 mins., just until barely browned, until a light touch with finger leaves no imprint.
