Linda's Dutch Chocolate Bars
1 c. quick cooking oats, uncooked
1/2 c. light brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. walnuts, ground
1/3 c. flour
2/3 c. flour
4 T. margarine
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. salt
1 square semi-sweet chocolate
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
2 T. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350.
In a small bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, walnuts, flour (1/3 c.), 4 T. margarine (melted), 1/4 tsp. baking soda, and 1/4 tsp. salt.
Use mixer at low speed, beating until well mixed.
Pat mixture into the bottom of a floured 8x8" baking pan.
Bake for 10 mins.
Meanwhile in 2 qt. saucean, over low heat, melt chocolate, and 1/2 c. margarine, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat. Stir in sugar, egg, milk, vanilla, 2/3 c. flour, 1/4 tsp. baking soda, and 1/4 tsp. salt, until smooth. Pour overbaked layer.
Bake for 30 mins. longer, or until toothpick comes out clean.
Cool in the pan, on a wire rack.
Cut into 2x1 1/2" bars.
