Recipe By : Yankee Magazine - October 1985

    Categories : Breads

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    1 cup milk
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/4 cup margarine
    1/2 cup warm water
    2 packages active dry yeast
    2 eggs -- beaten
    About 6 cups flour

Scald the milk; stir in sugar, salt and margarine. Cool to lukewarm. Measure 1/2 cup warm water into a large warm bowl. Sprinkle the yeast in and stir until dissolved. Add lukewarm milk mixture, eggs and 2 cups flour. Beat until smooth.
Stir in enough flour to make a soft dough, about 4 cups. On lightly floured board, knead until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes. Place in greased bowl and turn to grease top. Cover with a damp towel and let rise until doubled in bulk, about 30 minutes. Punch down, shape into balls and place on greased pans.
Let rise until doubled in bulk; bake at 375 F. for 15-20 minutes.

    Makes 2 dozen
