    Crunchy Caramel Apple Pie

    Pie crust:
    1-1/4 cup flour
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/3 cup shortening
    4-5 tablespoons cold water
    Filling:
    1/2 cup sugar
    3 tablespoons flour
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    6 cups apples; sliced thin
    Crumb Topping:
    1 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup flour
    1/2 cup quick cooking rolled oats
    1/2 cup butter, softened
    Final Topping:
    1/4 cup caramel topping
    1/2 cup chopped pecans

    For the pie crust: Mix together flour and salt. Cut in shortening. Slowly
    add water until all dough is moistened. Roll out and line 9-inch pie plate.

    For the filling: Mix together sugar, flour, salt and cinnamon. Gently toss
    apples until coated. Transfer to a pie plate.

    For the Crumb Topping: Mix together sugar, flour and oats. Cut in butter
    until it resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over apple mixture. Bake 375
    degrees, 50-55 minutes. Remove from oven. Top with 1/2 cup chopped pecans.
    Then drizzle 1/4 cup caramel topping over pie. Cool on wire rack.
