Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    1 pound shortening (Crisco)
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1 1/4 cups water
    3 cups all-purpose flour
    2 egg yolks
    Filling*
    1 cup milk
    4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    1/2 pound shortening (Crisco)
    2 pounds confectioner's sugar
    12 tablespoons marshmallow cream
    1 teaspoon vanilla

Sift flour and sugar together; cut 1/4 of Crisco into flour mixture. Add egg yolks to the water and stir. Add to the flour mixture. Chill dough for 1 hour; then roll out and spread with 1/3 of the remaining Crisco; fold and chill again.
Repeat the above process 2 or more times. (It takes 4 hours to make up the dough). Take small amounts of the dough and roll out thin. Cut into strips about 5-inches long and 3-inches wide. Roll around pastry tubes or wooden clothespins loosely; if they split, they are rolled too tight. Bake at 425 F. for 8 minutes; then reduce heat to 375 F. for 7 minutes. Allow to cool. Fill when completely cooled.

Filling:* Combine milk and flour; cook until a thick paste. Cool. Mix 1/2 pound Crisco and 2 pounds confectioner's sugar together. Add marshmallow cream and vanilla and beat till smooth and fluffy.

    Makes alot

NOTES : This comes from an old neighbor that I used to get together with and bake Christmas cookies every year.
