    Chocolate Cream Cheese Bars

    Source of Recipe

From Sew Deadly by Jean Hager

    Recipe Introduction

MMMMmmm... these sound wonderful to me. They are from the "Iris House" in Ms. Hager's book. Her books are very entertaining to read.

    List of Ingredients

Victoria Springs Bakery's Chocolate-Cream Cheese Bars

    1 c sugar
3 pkg, 8 oz each, cream cheese, softened to room temperature
    5 eggs
    2 tsp vanilla
    1 tbsp lemon juice
4 oz pkg sweet baking chocolate, melted and cooled

    Recipe

    Preheat to 350.
Butter a 9 inch square pan.
Combine sugar and cream cheese in a large mixing bowl; beat until fluffy.
One at a time, add the eggs and beat after each addition.
    Add vanilla and mix.
Remove two cups of mixture; add the melted and cooled choclate, stir, then set aside.
Add lemon juice to the remaining cream cheese mixture.
Pour the cream cheese mixture (not the chocolate part) into the prepared pan.
Carefully spread the chocolate mixture on top.
Use a knife to swirl the two layers creating a marblized look.
Bake at 350 for 40 to 45 minutes.
    Cool, then chill.
    Cut into bars and serve.
