    Mrs. MacNeill's Scones

    Source of Recipe

    Mrs. Emma MacNeill

    Recipe Introduction

These are the favourite scones of her son Fred. He likes them buttered with homemade Jam, but his favourite way of eating them is buttered then pile on dry salami, hot capicola, old cheddar cheese, pickled hot peppers and sliced onion.

    List of Ingredients

    5 cups flour
    1 cup white sugar
    5 teaspoons baking powder
Butter the size of a large egg
Enough milk to make a soft dough that can be rolled or patted out.

    Recipe

    Method:-

Preheat oven to 375ºF or 400ºF.
Combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder.
Cut the butter into flour mixture
Stir milk until dough is of right consistency, it usually depends on dryness of flour (I usually use about 2 cups). Place dough on floured pastry board, knead for 5 or 6 turns. Roll or pat out into 2 rounds about 3/4-inch thick cut in triangle shapes and bake in preheated oven until light golden brown, about 30 minutes. Remove and cool on rack. Serve as desired.

NOTE:- Mrs. MacNeill didn't give me an oven temperature. My first stove I used 375º, the next one I had to use 400.
