    Raw Apple Cake

    1 cup white sugar
    1 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup shortening
    Cream well together, add 2 eggs and beat.

    2 1/4 cups flour
    1/2 teas. salt
    2 teas. cinnamon
    2 teas. soda

    Add to creamed mixture alternately with 1 cup sour milk. Fold in by hand 2 cups of chopped raw peeled apples. Place in greased 9 x 13" pan and put topping on batter. Bake at 350 for 1 hour (don't test before 1 hour). Top with Butterscotch Apple Sauce and serve.

    TOPPING:
    1 teas. cinnamon
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup white sugar
    1/2 cup chopped nuts
    Mix together and sprinkle over cake batter before baking.

    BUTTERSCOTCH APPLE SAUCE:
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup butter
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup sweet cream (I used half and half)
    Combine and bring to rolling boil. Add 1 teas. vanilla. Serve warm over Raw Apple Cake.

    NOTE: for sour milk - put one tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar in measuring cup and add milk to one-cup line. Allow to stand at room temp. for few minutes.
