Searching for a specific type of recipe

    Source of Recipe

    Buny
Ok.... if you are wanting to search my page for a specific type of recipe, say egg salad or potato pancakes.. there's a relatively easy way to do so that will cut out the guesswork of where to start / what category to check.

    1. Look above you to the banner above my page title.. there is a link called "search for recipes" . You want to click on that.

    2. It will bring up a screen from the main site my page is a member of (recipe circus and mimi's cyber-kitchen). At this screen, you will be focusing on the top box that says "search recipe circus member archive". Put your cursor there.

    3. Using quotes to surround your search term, type in the type of recipe you want.. such as "chocolate cake" or "egg salad" and in the same box after the term in quotes, type in the word buny. By doing this, you are telling the database to search for recipes that contain 'chocolate cake' in either the title or ingredient listing, and to include only recipes with my name (ones that either I've posted to my page or that other members have included in their pages).

    4. Click on "go". it will search for a bit, and then bring up a page of search results. The listing will show each recipe that fits your search and a hint of the beginning of the recipe text. Under the recipe will be a clickable link to take you to that recipe. Click on it and zoom you're there :)

What I don't know yet and havent figured out is that if you are wanting, for instance, a chocolate cake, and the recipe does not have "chocolate cake" in the title or ingredient, it may be a recipe that wont come up in the search.. Don't know if there's a way around it.. But, at least this will give you an idea on where some recipes have found homes in my categories.

    Hope this helps :D

Addendum.. ok, I"ve played around with it some more.. discovered that the search will link the words you type in.. for instance, if you typed in ' egg salad buny ' it will pull up recipes that include the word 'salad', the word 'egg', and the word 'buny'. However, if you use quotation marks around a phrase, such as if you type in ' "egg salad" buny ' then it will search for recipes that contain the phrase 'egg salad' along with 'buny'. I tried this with searching for chocolate cakes.. when I included the phrase "chocolate cake" in quotes, it brought up only recipes that had the phrase in title or ingredient, around 140 or so. I tried it a second time with no quote marks, just typing in 'chocolate cake buny' in the search box and it brought up 600+ recipes, some for including devils food cake, also brought up some chocolate cheesecake recipes, since the words chocolate and cake both were used in the title.
