***Creamy Horseradish Dipping Sauce***
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
2 teaspoons white distilled vinegar
1 teaspoon water
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon ketchup
1/4 teaspoon medium grind black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
1 dash garlic powder
1 dash onion powder

6 cups shortening (as needed)
1 large white onion
***Batter:***
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 1/2 cups milk Recipe
Creamy Horseradish Dipping Sauce: combine ingredients in a bowl until blended. Cover and chill.
Heat the shortening to 350 degrees F in a deep fryer.
To prepare the onion: Slice both ends off the onion. Lay it with one cut side down. Slice into wedges and separate.
Batter: Combine the dry batter ingredients until mixed. Stir in the milk until smooth. Let sit for 5 minutes or until thickened. Stir the batter, then dip each piece of onion into it. Carefully drop the battered onion into the oil. Fry approximately 10 pieces at a time, for 2 minutes or until browned. Drain on paper toweling. Repeat using up remaining ingredients. Serve with dipping sauce.
