    1 lb. walnuts shelled
    1 c. sugar
    6 c. oil
    2 Tbsp. coarse salt
    2 qt. water

    Bring 2 quarts water to boil in large saucepan. Add walnuts, reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes. Drain well in colander, spread on cookie sheet and while warm and damp, sprinkle with sugar-coat thoroughly. Let dry thoroughly all afternoon. Heat oil in skillet or deep fryer to 375 degrees. Fry walnuts a few at a time, no more than half pound. Turn constantly 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown. Use timer. Trans-
