    Recipe Introduction


    "We loved macaroni and cheese when we were kids and we love it today. It is the ultimate comfort food. Use any cheese that suits your fancy, or add chopped cooked ham or diced broccoli if you want a change."

    List of Ingredients




    8 ounces elbow macaroni (1 2/3 cups)
    1/4-cup butter or margarine
    1/4-cup flour
    2 cups milk
    1 teaspoon A-1 Sauce
    1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
    Pepper, to taste
    3 cups grated sharp Cheddar cheese, divided

    Recipe



    Cook macaroni according to package directions, al dente, and drain. While the macaroni cooks, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the milk, A-1 Sauce, salt, and pepper and cook and stir until it boils. Let sauce boil for 1 minute. Set aside 1 cup of cheese.

    In a 10" pie plate, layer half the macaroni and half the remaining cheese. Repeat. Pour the white sauce over the macaroni. Place dish on the 1" rack and InfraCook on HI for 15 minutes or until well heated. (test a bit in the center) Top with reserved cheese and InfraCook on HI for 2 or 3 minutes, or until cheese melts.
    Yield: 4 to 6 servings
