    Alsase-Lorraine Fondue

    Source of Recipe

    www.wwseniors.com

    List of Ingredients

    1 peeled garlic clove
    2 cups dry white wine
1 1/4 pounds coarsely grated Swiss cheese
    1 teaspoon cornstarch
    1 tablespoon water or wine
    1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
    Salt and pepper to taste
1 medium loaf French bread, or 8 crusty rolls

    Recipe

Rub the inside of the fondue pot with garlic. Pour in the wine. Place over low heat. Stir when bubbling. Stir in cheese by large tablespoonfuls, stirring always in the same direction, until beginning to bubble. Stir in cornstarch dissolved in the water or wine; add nutmeg, salt and pepper. Now you're ready for dunking.

A party of 6 can all enjoy this. Just spear a piece of bread or roll through its crusty side with a long-handled fork, securing the point in the crust so the bread or roll will not slip off when dipped in the fondue. Dunk the bread in stirring motion. While you enjoy your morsel, your neighbors can start theirs. The alcohol in the wine evaporates in cooking.
