List of Ingredients
1 cup Kraft Thick 'n' Spicy Honey Barbecue Sauce
1/2 cup honey
Several dashes Tabasco sauce
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp dry red wine
2 tsp liquid smoke
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/4 to 1/2 cup dark beer
Drizzle of maple syrup, optional
1 (2-lb.) slab pork babyback ribs
1 tsp liquid smoke
Cajun/Creole seasoning to taste
Salt and coarsely ground black pepper to tasteRecipe
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees (F).
2. In a medium saucepan, combine the barbecue sauce, honey, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, dry red wine, the 2 teaspoons of liquid smoke, onions, beer, and maple syrup (if using). Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. As sauce boils, reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
3. Meanwhile, rub 1 teaspoon of liquid smoke over the ribs. Season with Cajun or Creole seasoning to taste, and salt and pepper. Place the ribs in a deep, foil-lined baking pan and cover tightly with foil. Bake at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes. Uncover the pan, turn the ribs over, and bake for 15 minutes longer, covered.
4. Uncover ribs and brush with the barbecue sauce every few minutes, turning, until the ribs are done. Ribs should be uncovered during this last stretch of cooking time. Reserve the remaining barbecue sauce.
5. Cut ribs into serving portions and serve with small crocks or bowls of the remaining barbecue sauce for dipping.
This is good served with buttery corn on the cob, baked potatoes and a crisp green salad.
Note: These are messy, so set out a small bowl of warm water with lemon wedges and plenty of napkins for clean-up!
