2 cups water
1 ounce finely chopped lean ham
2 cups fresh or frozen butterbeans or lima beans
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

BRING2 cups water and ham to a boil in a saucepan; boil 5 to 10 minutes. Add butterbeans, salt, and pepper; return to a boil.
COVER, reduce heat, and simmer 45 minutes or until tender. Serves 4
