    List of Ingredients





    3 tablespoons oil
    1 large onion
    1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
    3 pods cardamom, cracked open
    3 whole cloves
    1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    1 teaspoon ground coriander
    1 teaspoon whole cumin seeds
    1 can chick peas, drained (Progresso brand)
    1/2 teaspoon garam masala
    salt to taste

    Heat the oil in a wide skillet until it is very hot. Add cardamom, cloves and cumin and stir for about 30 seconds. Add the mustard seeds and wait until they start popping. Add onions and stir until they turn translucent, about 4 minutes. Add the coriander and the chick peas and stir for a minute. Add garam masala and the salt and continue stirring the chick-peas under medium heat for 5-7 minutes without covering. If the chick-peas get too dry, add 1/4 cup of water. Serves 2.
