2 cups minus 1 Tbl. flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch salt
3 tablespoons stick butter chilled
1 cup lowfat buttermilk
1 1/2 ounces sharp cheddar cheese grated
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Recipe
Wax paper on baking sheet; nonstick spray. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda & salt. Add 2 tbsp. of the margarine & blend with pastry cutter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk & cheese, combine with fork handling dough as little as possible. Drop by spoonful onto prepared baking sheet. Bake at 450 F til light brown about 8-10 minutes. Meanwhile, microwave remaining tbsp. margarine on high 5-10 seconds. Stir in garlic powder. Remove biscuits from oven when done. Brush margarine evenly over warm biscuits. Serve warm. Makes 12 biscuits.
