2 cups all purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
2/3 cup milk
Recipe
In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cream of tartar. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Ina small bowl, beat egg and milk; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter. Bakeat 400ºF for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Yield: about 1 dozen.
