Spicy Molasses Muffins

4 cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1-1/3 cups vegetable shortening
1 cup sugar
4 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup molasses
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup raisins Recipe
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray 24 muffin cups with non-stick vegetable spray. In a medium bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, allspice, and nutmeg; set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, beat until well blended. Stir in molasses and buttermilk. Add flour mixture, stirring until just moistened. Stir in raisins. Fill muffin cups one-half full. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot.
