    Nut: Ginger Nut Bread

    List of Ingredients

    2 1/2 cups flour
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon ginger
    1/2 cup chopped nuts
    1 well beaten egg
    1/2 cup light molasses
    1/4 cup melted shortening
    3/4 cup buttermilk or sour milk

    Recipe

    Sift dry ingredients together. Add nuts. Combine remaining ingredients and add to dry ones, stirring only until mixed. Pour batter into greased 7 1/2x 3 1/2x 2 3/4-inch loaf pan and bake at 325ºF for 1 hour. Makes 1 loaf
