2 cups water
1/4 cup grits
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons cream cheese

Salt water and bring to a boil. Slowly sprinkle in grits, while stirring. Simmer, stirring until they become thick and creamy. Turn heat very low, cover, stirring every few minutes until they are just about to stick. (the longer you can cook them, the better) Stir in butter and cream cheese. Serves 4 as a side dish or 2 for a hearty breakfast.
