    Judy's Tea Ring

    Source of Recipe

    Judy Williams

    Recipe Introduction

Another from my ex mother-in-law. She used to serve this for breakfast when we'd go visit -- it's got great flavor and makes a bunch.

    List of Ingredients

    2 packages active dry yeast
    1/2 cup milk -- scalded
    1 teaspoon butter
    1/2 cup water -- 105 - 115 degrees
    1/2 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    4 1/2 cups flour
    2 tablespoons butter
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    2 tablespoons cinnamon
    1 cup powdered sugar
    1 tablespoon milk
    1 teaspoon vanilla

    Recipe

Dissolve yeast in water. Stir in milk, sugar, salt, egg, butter, and 1/2 of flour. Beat til smooth. Mix in enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle. Turn dough onto lightly floured board. Knead til smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place in greased bowl (turn greased side up). Cover and let rise til double, about 1 1/2 hours. (will be ready when impression remains when touched)

Roll dough into 15x9" rectangle. Spread with butter, sprinkle with sugar cinnamon. Roll up, begin at wide side. Pinch edge into roll to seal well. With sealed edge down, shape into ring on lightly greased baking sheet. Make cuts 2/3 way through ring at 1" intervals. Turn sections onto sides. Let rise till double, then bake at 375ºF for 25 minutes. Frost with glaze (the powdered sugar, 1 tbl milk and vanilla).
