Cherry Dumplings

List of Ingredients
4 cups Cherries
1 1/4 cups Sugar
3 cups Water
1 1/2 cups Flour
2 teaspoons Baking powder
1 each Egg
1/4 cup Milk
1/2 teaspoon Salt Recipe
Wash and seed cherries. Add water and 1 cup sugar and cook until soft. Drain cherries from juice. Bring juice to boiling point and add dumplings. To make dumplings: Sift flour, salt, 1/4 cup sugar, and baking powder together. Beat egg slightly and add milk. Combine with flour mixture, and beat until a smooth, stiff dough. Drop by spoonfuls into boiling cherry juice. Add cherries and serve hot, or top with a scoop of ice cream. Serves 6.
