1 quart fruit, cut up
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1 beaten egg

Put fruit in bottom of baking dish. (If fresh fruit is used, sprinkle 1 C. sugar over fruit.) Dot with butter. Mix dry ingredients first, then add milk and egg. Spread over fruit. Bake at 350¼F for 30 minutes, or till toothpick comes out clean.
