1/4 cup Vegetable Shortening, Solid
2 cups Self-Rising Flour
7/8 cup Buttermilk -- LESS 2 Tbs.
Recipe
Preheat oven to 450¼F. With the tips of your fingers or a pastry blender, cut the shortening into the flour until it resembles coarse meal. Add the buttermilk and stir in with a fork just until dough holds together. Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead a few times until smooth. Roll 1/2-inch thick and cut out with a floured biscuit cutter. Transfer to baking sheets and bake 10 to 12 minutes, until golden.
