    Desserts: Cranberry-Nut Holiday Tarts

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 cup butter (no substitutes) -- softened
    1 3 ounce pack cream cheese -- softened
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1 egg
    3/4 cup packed brown sugar
    1 tablespoon butter (no substitutes) -- melted
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1/3 cup finely chopped fresh cranberries
    3 tablespoons chopped walnuts

    Recipe

    BEAT together the 1/2 cup butter and the cream cheese in a small mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium to high speed till combined. Stir in four till combined. Cover and chill about 1 hour or till dough is easy to handle. FOR FILLING, beat together egg, brown sugar, the 1 tablespoon melted butter, and vanilla. Stir in chopped cranberries and walnuts. SHAPE dough into 1-inch balls. Press each ball onto bottom and up sides of an ungreased 1 3/4-inch muffin cup. Fill each with 1 rounded teaspoon of filling. BAKE in a 325ºF oven for 25 to 30 minutes or till filling is firm. Cool tarts slightly in pans on wire racks. Remove tarts from pans and cool completely on racks. Makes 24.
