    Desserts: Banana Cream Torte

    1 1/2 cups crushed graham crackers
    10 tablespoons butter, melted
    1/4 cup sugar
    1/4 cup flour
    1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts
    8 ounces cream cheese, softened
    3/4 cup powdered sugar
    4 cups heavy cream
    4 tablespoons butter
    3 large bananas, sliced
    1/2 cup brown sugar

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 350ºF. Mix graham crackers, melted butter, granulated sugar, flour and nuts. Reserve 1/2 cup of the crust and press the rest evenly into an ungreased 11x13x2 inch baking pan. Bake 10 minutes. Cool. In a large bowl, mix cream cheese, confectioners sugar, and 2 cups of the cream. Beat at high speed with electric mixer 3 minutes, until thick. Spread on cooled crust. Melt butter in a skillet and saute bananas until they begin to soften. Add 1/2 cup of the cream and brown sugar. Simmer and stir about 5 minutes, until thick. Cool to room temperature. When cool, spread banana filling on cream layer. Whip remaining 1 1/2 cups cream. Top bananas with whipped cream. Sprinkle reserved crust on top. Keep refrigerated. Slice and serve in square blocks. Serves 10-12.
