(1) Melt the candy in a microwave on low in 15 second intervals until melted (stir in between heating), place a marshmallow on a toothpick and dip it into the melted candy to coat, place marshmallows on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper and place in a refrigerator to chill,
(2) tint a small portion of the frosting black with the black color icing in a separate bowl and spread on the top of the marshmallows (spike the "hair" with a toothpick or fork), (3) attach the head to the Ho Ho body with some of the vanilla frosting,
(4) attach a medium tootsie roll to each side of the Ho Ho with more of the vanilla frosting to create the arms,
(5) with the frosting, attach the large tootsie rolls to the bottom of the Ho Ho for the legs (remove some of the pieces if necessary to make the legs the appropriate size for the body),
(6) with more of the frosting, attach a small tootsie roll to the bottom of each tootsie roll leg for the feet.
(7) tint a small portion of the frosting purple and place the tinted frosting in a zip lock bag with the end snipped off. Draw a jacket on the Ho Ho body with the frosting by creating the lapels, a line down the center and buttons.
(8) Finish by drawing faces on the monsters with the black decorating gel.
Tip: Create a fun party activity by allowing party guests to play Frankenstien by building their own "Edible" Monsters:
create the monster's heads as instructed above (add the hair and face and place in the refrigerator to chill), decorate the Ho Ho bodies as instructed above and place in the refrigerator to chill, place the heads on one serving tray or plate and place the bodies on another; Provide each guest with the tootsie rolls for the arms, legs and feet, toothpicks and frosting to assemble their creations. You can place frosting in small paper cups (cut the cups in half crosswise first). bring out the makings for the monsters, have the guests unwrap their tootsie rolls, and instruct them on how to assemble. this fun activity can also be turned into a race where everyone wins by getting to eat their own creation.
Note: You may wish to allow the guests to create their own faces with the decorating gel (for a race, provide each guest with their own tube).
