    Source of Recipe

Joe Kubik of John Harvard's Brew House

    List of Ingredients

    3/4 cup old fashioned oats
    1 2/3 cups flour
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/8 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut small pieces
5 cups granny smith apples, small dice
5 cups Mcintosh apples, cut small dice
    2/3 cup sugar
    1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    vanilla ice cream

    Recipe

Preheat oven to 375ºF. In a large bowl combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. With a pastry blender, 2 knives, or your fingers cut in butter until the mixture resembles a streusel. In a large bowl combine the apples, granulated sugar, and nutmeg. Place half the apple mixture in a 13-by-2-inch baking pan and sprinkle with a quarter of the streusel. Cover with the remaining apples and press down with the back of a large spoon. Sprinkle with the remaining streusel. Bake at 375ºF for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Serves 10.
