1 package graham crackers
1 pound powdered sugar
3 large egg whites
candies to decorate
Recipe
Royal Frosting (NOT recommended for eating): Place 3 large egg whites into mixing bowl. Use mixer to beat whites into peaks which keep their form when cut with knife. Add powdered sugar & beat in.
Making houses: Break 1 cracker in half so there are 2 equal size squares. Stack them on top of each other & turn top cracker a quarter turn to create triangular peak. Use royal icing to "glue" 2 pieces together. Repeat steps 1-3 to make other side wall of house. Use 2 whole crackers for front & back walls. "Glue" all 4 sides together. Allow to dry few hours. Use 2 whole crackers to lay across for roof. "Glue" in place. Fill in cracks with icing & allow to dry overnight.
Decorating : Use muffin tins to unwrap & separate candy. Starting with roof, ice one section at a time & decorate. If candies appear too heavy for house, let icing dry for few mins first. Other hints: Create village by covering piece of cardboard with foil. "Glue" houses down. Make pathways with M&M & tart "stones". Make paper cones, color some of icing & create pine trees to decorate. Add gingerbread men. If you'd prefer to eat finished houses, substitute egg whites with powdered meringue found in candy making supplies. If you want to eat the house use regular powdered sugar icing but make it thicker.
